Community Service

Working together in community is a value we put in to practice both in school and in our larger community. Every year, students and teachers are involved in projects that serve people in the Eugene-Springfield area.

Among our on-going community service projects are Wellsprings Free Sale in which we offer clothing, household items, toys, games, and other goods at no cost to people in need in our community.  We also convene a Peace & Justice Festival most every year.  It brings together people for talks, discussion, and action planning to work on ending injustice and seeking peace in the world.

Another community service project during each school year are our “Burrito Missionaries.”  Teacher Chanci says of this project, “I get a handful of students to help me make close to 100 burritos. Then Bob and I load up our vehicles and set off in search of hungry faces. We usually get to spend a few minutes chatting with the population we are serving. Last month we met a band of traveling musicians that played us some great live music and as a thanks for the hot food we gave them.”
